How they ended in such antagonism?
>>
Sunni Islam vs Shia Islam.

NATO political orbit vs. Russia/China political orbit.

Sand nigger vs sand nigger.
>>
is it really hard to figure out..?

They've despised each other for hundreds of years, currently Saudis are the Sunni leaders and Iran is the Shia leader. Even ordinary members don't like the other group. Then you combine the proxy war currently going on with the west/saudis and russia/iran

>Sand nigger vs sand nigger.
Arabs vs Persians
>>
>>2935971
Yes, as I said.

The Muslims greatest enemy is "that other group of Muslims over there"
>>
>>2935966
Aren't Sunni and Shia both Muslim? Why would they despise each other instead of being united against white race?
>>
>>2935996
Same reason whites and jews aren't united in their goals, they have cultural differences.
>>
>>2935996
Why would followers of the religion created by a white man unite against white people, especially if this religion doesn't divide people by race?
>>
>>2935952
After Khomeini came to power, Saudis became afraid that Iran would start a Shia rebellion inside KSA, but before the Islamic Revolution the relationship between these two countries was pretty chill.

The Shah and King Faisal were on pretty good terms exchanging letters and what-not about Middle Eastern affairs while running the oil monopoly together.

Then the revolution happened and King Khalid tried to extend an olive branch to Khomeini saying that "it is good that Iran has found Islamic rule", only to have Khomeini go out in speeches about Saudis being the worst scum and backstabbers on the planet with their wahabbi cult, which was the basis for the stigmata existing today.
>>
>>2935952
Both countries went full retard in the 70s/80s.

persians are white

Some Persians are, some Persians are not. The same goes for Arabs.

>sand nigger vs hill nigger
Fixed that for you.

What's weird is both South and North Yemen were affiliated with leftist ideologies. The South seems to have been more strongly allied with the USSR but today Russia backs the Shia north. It seems the ethno-religious divide ended up being a greater determining force than any ideology.
>>
>>2936489
Persian don't exist anymore, it's all Arabs.
>>
>>2936080
How did Saudis go full retard. If anything they just kept up with a regular development. Maybe your thinking of Iraq.
>>
>>2936543
they've always been a bit retarded but specifically when they started exporting Salafism in the 1970s.

Memes aside, whoever controls Mecca will have to deal with extremism. I mean, if you were a radical Muslim, out of all the cities on Earth, which would you be most like to congregate towards?

If the House of Saud gets taken down I guarantee whoever rules Mecca next will be just as bad, if not worse.
>>
Geopolitics pure and simple. Two large powers gunning for hegemony over the area and it's extraordinary wealth. The Sunni v. Shia thing factors very little outside of propaganda wars and it is not the root of their conflict.

Yeap.

Except the difference lies in how you deal with it. Saudis promote it. Meanwhile the Ottomans executed people for it.

Completely false. The people of Iran have changed very little genetically since the time of Cyrus the Great.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Mosque_seizure

Read this OP. After the Iranian Revolution, radicals tried something similar in Saudi Arabia. Up until then, the monarchy had been relatively moderate, women didn't have to wear burqas and society was relatively modernized.

After this happened, the monarchy got shit scared and decided they need to appease the clerics(who still influenced the majority of the population) to avoid the same fate of the Shah of Iran. They pumped billions of dollars into these clerics, which propelled the resurgence of Wahabbism and the ultra-puritanical Saudi society we see today.

Add to that the traditional Sunni-Shia rivalry and Arab-Persian rivalry, and you have the shitty situation of today.
>>
>>2936543
After Grand Mosque seizure KSA became significantly more conservative in order to appease fundamentalists

Muhammad and his camel train were travelling across the desert when his favourite wife Aisha, the 6 year old (he fugged her when she was 9) got thirsty and stopped at an oasis to drink. When she'd finished she realised she'd been left behind.

Some other dude was there so she borrowed and rode his camel (maybe a euphemism?) and caught up. Anyway, riding another dude's camel was not the done thing and Muhammad was a jealous dude and thought she'd cheated.

He was all upset because she was his favourite wife, and to comfort him, his cousin and son in-law, sometimes second in command, Ali told him to ditch her as there were plenty more fish in the sea.

Anyway, Muhammad prays on the issue of whether or not he's a cuck and the angel Gabriel appears and tells him what he wants to hear (this often happened), that she didn't cheat and he can take her back.

So he takes Aisha back, but she never forgives Ali. When Mo dies there's a split as to who should succeed him. In his lifetime, Mo had talked about consultation and dialogue (shura in Arabic) and these people are all about electing a Caliph. On the other side, there are people saying the Quran talks about succession from God, and they want Ali to succeed. Having been wronged by Ali in the past, Aisha went with the Sunnis, who make up the majority of Muslims. Those who sided with Ali are Shia.
