Early on, America received investment that LA just didn't get. This led to lagging behind that was exacerbated by the industrialization in other nations since in LA they couldn't begin to industrialize due to lack of capital and of course the warlord-like caudillo system. The lack of industrial resources also played a role in the failure to industrialize. Furthermore, the racial tensions and large illiterate black population was poorly dealt with to say the least. Recall that in the USA we still had sharecroppers living in true destitution, but the north lacked this and was able to easily industrialize without this demographic burden. The capital from the north helped to stimulate the south. American oil and steel is also something that many forget as part of our meteoric rise pre-ww1. Kill all the people in South Africa. This will solve over half the immigration problem as well as illegal drugs being smuggled in to make drug cartels rich. This also reduces to world's population which is good for the fear of overpopulation we are currently facing. South America should just be a continent for preserving the amazon jungle and wildlife as well as the earth's natural resources.

I propose this should also be done in Africa. Leave both continents uninhabited by humans and let nature take its course.

This is such a typical American post. Natives in South America were never really a threat and their numbers were always small. The immigration incentive never had anything to do with the natives that were already there.
And if you're talking about modern day you should probably focus on India, China and SE Asia cause that's where most of the population of the world lives (literally more than half).
