Kulaks were literally given everything they needed to grow those crops. They were given workers, equipment, land, the crops themselves, etc. They were told they could even sell the excess and would get paid whether they even fulfilled the crop quota or not (because things aren't always a 100% certainty).

The Russian aristocracy in the Alexander III and Nicholas eras were dependent on the good will of the nobility after Alexander III gutted many of his father's attempts at reform because Alex 3 wanted to return Russia to the Good Ole Days. As a result it was usually easier to just exile irritating nobles than it was to kill them.

If you killed Lenin, Trotsky would have easily filled in the gap, and he was more authoritarian, backstabbing anarchists and what not.

On top as to why they didn't kill him, Marxist Leninism was a fairly new ideology, and considering the peasants were sick of the tsar, most of them wouldn't have been thinking twice.
