What century irreversibly shaped the world we live in? I don't really know how to phrase this so I'll just make my argument.
Most people would say it was the 5th century that saw the collapse of the Roman Empire and rise of medievality, the 16th century Renaissance, or the 18th century enlightenment. I think the 20th century was the one. It saw the fall of all the world's great powers and an emergence of just two (also saw one of the two falling), as well as two wars that reshaped warfare forever and sucked the glory right out of war. What else?

-18th century shaped our political system the most
-19th century shaped our economic system the most
-20th century shaped our culture the most

Probably the 9th, 10th or 11th because then took place the formation of many European states and proto-states that ultimately influenced world history.
The wave of modernism that irreversibly changed the world in the 20th century is a strong candidate too.
21st. 911 changed the world forever.

If you want the truth, every single century will irreversibly shape the world more than the last, because every century, humans have more technological capability to shape the world.
That is unless we nuke ourselves out of the modern era.
