Why do muslims refer their God as Allah when that basically just mean God in arabic. I can understand arabic muslims but not non arabic muslims saying Allah. And how many of the 1.5 billion muslims actually know arabic? Considering that the Quran is supposed to only be read in Arabic

Arabic is the language of revelation. The language itself is important regardless of culture or national affiliation.

Because that is the name God revealed himself in in that text. Hence why people call Jesus Jesus

>Jesus
because that's his name as revealed in the holy king james only baptist bible

It's not exactly "supposed" to be read in arabic but it's highly recommended so it doesn't end up like the mistranslated clusterfuck that is the bible
Second thing, you don't have to refer to god as allah, for example south east asian muslims refer to god as "god" in their language and even european muslims call him god.

I think Islam has been wise in this respect because it has ensured the conservation and uniformity of the tradition.
I think bible translations should have YHWH, El, and Elohim in the OT and Theos in the NT.

It doesn't matter regardless, Arabic was the language of the revelation therefore all Muslims would use Allah. As a persian speaker we also say khuda, so pretty sure others languages would have their own word as well.
