What are some historical titles that dictators used to avoid being called dictators?
I am particularly interested in communist countries, where in theory everyone would be equal, and it would be hard to justify having your "director" or "chairman" be an absolute ruler.
Also general lore behind the titles, like mandate of haven, divine right, blue blood, god-emperor cult, etc.
Autocrat titles and lore.

Autarch is my favorite.
Despot and Tyrant are also classics that would never fly today.
Member of the Committee of Public Safety might work.

The french revolution was so dank, I regret we didn't keep more of their inventions.
The current system of 60 minute hours, 24 hour days, 7 day weeks, those are all based on astrology and are hard to work with, just finicky numbers.
I wish we'd have another clean sheet, just forget all the stuff that we have just because we had them last year, and build a world wide system that everyone is forced to use.
You know, for the common good.

Finally, someone who agrees with me!
Relative, 24 hour time is an unnecessary, obtuse abstraction. What the world needs is metric time, based on either 10 long hours or 100 very short ones, that are used in sync across the world.

Dude! We should totally storm a police station to get armed, force the government to abdicate to us, half-ass all our dreams and get publicly executed by Stalin-Bonaparte, Destroyer of Revolutions, as he assumes control and drives the country into chain wars.
General Secretary of the ___ Communist Party

So when he tells you do to something, why do you do it? Whats the lore here?
If a fuhrer tells you something, you do it because he is the supreme commander of the militarized society, and we must observe the hierarchy or perish.
If a king tells you to do something, you do it because he has divine right, his family and bloodline were places in a position of power by God.
If a god-emperor tells you something, you do it because he is an avatar of the Gods, he knows everything and his decisions are obviously the best possible and the will of the divines.
If your supreme cleric tells you to do something, he is just giving you the word of God, that God told him and he translated, so you do that.
Why would you listen to the secretary of the communist party? How was that justified?

So much for the revolutionary left.
"Father of the Nation"
"Messiah"
"Guide of the Revolution"
"Helmsman"
"Founder"
"Savior of the People"
"Supreme Combatant"

>The leader of the revolution commands so
Who put him in charge of the revolution?
Isn't the revolution specifically about removing rulers so we can all be equal anyways?
Really, how the fuck was that justified?

All forms of Socialism aren't inherently anti-hierarchy. Leninism, Stalinism and Maoism for example all justify hierarchy as necessary under Socialism to achieve communism.

But Stalin was a nickname, not a title.
People who stir up dissent and introduce a needless clamour for reforms and thus causing uprisings aren't human. Scum.
