Knightly values were meant to civilize a barbarian warrior elite. Considering that the Western world has pretty much passed through all states of the civilizing process and that "barbarian warrior elites" are not a thing anymore in Europe, I'd say knightly chivalry is outdated in its original context.

Maybe it would be useful for narcos in Latin America or warlords in Africa, though.
