Real answer? Because food is extremely important to Italian culture. Gathering together with friends and family to enjoy a good meal is one of few joys of life. instead of being a cold and impersonal affair like the Homo Americanus it's considered a hallmark of the day.

It would be much better if foreigners didn't give confusing names to their own bastardized versions of Italian food, in an attempt to make them sound more genuine
Spaghetti Bolognese - Besides the fact that spaghetti is traditionally a food from the south, the only thing related to Bologna is the meat sauce
Pasta Neapolitan - Not with those wieners
Fettuccine Alfredo - Boiling fettuccine in bechamel sauce makes wonder if the recipe inventor even knew how to pasta needs to be cooked
