The Moors in Hispania were, yeah. But the rest in North Africa were Berber. The Almoravid and Almohad Kingdoms were of Berber origin and had their capitals in North Africa.

I wanted to post that painting of Jesus Christ carrying the cross where the roman soldiers are depicted wearing 15c full plate armour to illustrate my point but I can't fucking find it anywhere.
