Difference between Tajik and Persian?

Tajiks aren't Persian in the modern sense of the word as it defines a specific ethnic group. Persian used to mean what today means Iranian. Tajiks are an Iranic peoples, the same race as Kurds, Persians, Gilakis, Baluchis, Ossetians, Jazz, etc.
