"Traditions are of no value on their own"
Discuss.
I don't know.

Agreed but they are also of no harm on their own and if they are not detrimental they should be kept.
>>2813150
If they are of no harm or value why should they be kept rather than changed for something that might have value?
>>2813157
What do you propose?
I agree.
>"value"

>"spooks"
>>2813157
Comfy.
>>2813157
Who decides what is valuable?
>>2813223
Me.
>>2813230
You?
It's a live and let live thing. Harmless traditions have their place, somewhere.
>>2813515
Yes, him.
>>2813129
You are a flawed human and can't figure out everything on your own, you depend on 1000s of years of steadily accumulated and tested knowledge and some traditions like
>on their own
Most things are useless on your own. If you were dropped naked in a forest with nothing but a gold bar that gold bar wouldn't be much more useful than a rock. Gold is a very valuable commodity in general so a book containing the most useful traditions doesn't have a chance entirely on its own. Seems like an innocuous statement, you will have to elaborate.

What is this "spook" meme?
>>2813596
It's a reference to an important philosophical concept developed by Max Stirner, a spook is anything that you put above your own interests like religion or family. The term is often misused by people who haven't read Stirner but are familiar with the term.
