I genuinely don't understand why anybody thinks it wasn't Oswald. He was a commie-sympathizer with a lifelong grudge against the U.S. government. Even as far back as his marine days, he was noted for espousing unusually pro-Russian opinions, earning him the nickname Oswaldskovich from his fellow marines (his other nickname was Ozzie Rabbit). After leaving the Marines, he even went so far as to defect to the Soviet Union, making him one of the very few Americans to ever willingly move to a communist country. As far as the assassination itself, anybody could with a basic grasp of marksmanship could have done it, and Oswald himself had qualified as a sharpshooter at least once during his military career. It would have been an easy shot for him.

I'm with you on this one. Oswald is basically the exact kind of person who would have done it. He fits the profile so much, if a fictional movie was made about a presidential assassination, the assassin would end up basically being Oswald. He as communist sympathizer that has been pulling stunts to get attention and recognition for years. He'd even tried to assassinate an official beforehand, and killed an police officer while trying to escape after shooting Kennedy.

I know the whole conspiracy thing is basically accepted in pop culture at this point, but there's no reason to think anyone but Oswald was involved.

In 1963, JFK's primary interest in Dallas was raising money from the Dallas elite, and that meant the wealthy pro-Israel Jewish Democrats who were major financial angels for the ruling Democratic Party there. And since JFK was, at that time, at loggerheads with Israel over its nuclear arms program, it is critical to recognize how JFK was lured to Dallas and who was in charge of the arrangements that actually facilitated his assassination. Thus, the situation was in place for Jack Ruby to move in for the kill. There are several sources, including Dallas FBI agent James Hosty, who stated Bloom and his backers were the forces behind this. When the police searched Ruby's home, they found a slip of paper with Bloom's name, address and telephone number on it.
