First, a private is put in charge by an NCO, so if they fuck up, or the team fucks up, then the NCO is going to make them all pay for it in sweat.

Second, men are naturally team players, so the shitheads that don't want to cooperate are always outnumbered and can be forced to comply.

Finally, if you know how to wrestle, or grapple, you can snatch up the asshole and choke him into submission or use pain compliance to teach that motherfucker not to fuck with you. If you can't earn their respect, than make them fear you, as it accomplishes much of the same thing.

Depends on who and why puts said private in charge of others. It's rather common for pikvates to be given orders which include 'take 3 guys with you and get X done' and no soldier ever goes anywhere alone. In this case he is in charge by virtue of being the one who recieved the order and actually knows what is expected of them. If the other 3 guys refuse to follow his reasonable instructions, they are not pnly disobeying his authority but that of their superiors as well. Their whole squad or even platoon would meet disciplinary action depending on circumstances. Also, any situation where a group of privates have apply their own brainpower for the decisionmaking processes is one of the first things COs and NCOs are thought to avoid. Ideally, privates should always know what they should be doing and who's in command of them at any given moment.

That said, bantz among privates are fine during mundane exercises or downtime.
When shit gets serious though, people get serious as well.

This is why respect for the chain of command is so important in military culture and command. Even if you don't respect or like your superior you still obey them because they're the one in command and you respect that command.

In any case all that meme shit you see on television with troops being screamed at all the time isn't true. That's usually just reserved to boot camp and training and isn't indicative of NCO behavior towards the men under them after training. It's just to toughen them up and instill an instinctive readiness to obey orders. Once you've proven you're actually worth something in the military then you'll start being given a measure of respect by your superiors.
