I don't care about the "who wanted to attack who" question. Doesn't matter to me and it's purely an academic question and the answer wouldn't make either side look better or worse.
Suvorov is often unporfessional with his use of unscientific language. He really hates those commies. But I don't have to agree with everything a historian says. I don't think I've found one that I agree with 100% but I still like the guy. I support his idea that Russia was simply the first victim of bolshevism and we can't associate USSR with Russia.

It implies Stalin was some sort of genius mastermind who knew exactly what he was doing all along, when in fact he was an extremely erroneous man (as most dictators are) who fucked so many things up during his reign, the disastrous agricultural policy in Ukraine, the Winter War, the belief that Hitler would honor the pact, disastrous losses during the initial phase of Barbarossa.

Soviet-German conflict in WW2 was a result of antagonism between two literal psychopaths.

His point is that Stalin wanted to continue his war of conquest which he did but only if he could pull it off which is debatable. He needed the edge over the West which he nearly did in 1953 but he died just a few weeks before the reds got the hydrogen bomb.
