How do you make Posca?
I have the day off and want to LARP as a Roman Republic Hastati for a while. Ive already made a shield from a huge pillow and a gladius from a yardstick and a pila from the mop. Now I need a wineskin (plastic bag) of posca

What are the favorite drinks of the other great empires? What did the Han drink?
vinegar wine + water + Pick one: anise. Basil, mint, dill, garlic, mustard, pepper, savery, thyme
mix
Posca recipes varied heavily in antiquity (wiki says none survived but it's wrong) based on whether or not it was used as medicine. Almost all seemed to have contained pennyroyal (which we know is poison nowadays and I don't think you'd want to be drinking such brew on your LARP). For my posca, I like (whole, and fresh - keep the stems) mint dill sage parsley and crushed coriander seed allowed to steep in a solution of vinegar (any type will do, though wine-based vinegar would be most authentic) and honey. A week in the fridge is good. The common soldier may well have just mixed vinegar and water with whatever herbs were local and perhaps sweetener if he had access to it.
