i sort of wish we had landsknecht inspired fashion. i know it's neckbeardish but they're so colorful and boisterous looking
This seems like an appropriate question to ask here:
After seeing the trailer for that new King Arthur movie, I was left wondering about what kind of clothes were used in that area/time period. I'm pretty sure they didn't wear mostly neutral colours like they do in the film (though there are a couple of ladies with colourful dresses), but I'd like to see some specific examples of what colours/clothing items were popular. I couldn't find much online.
Would they wear something like the Franks of that era, posted here?
>>2793151
>>2793153
How much did they keep from Pre-Roman Britain, as posted here?

They couldn't exactly store their loot in a bank, so they had to carry it with them. Those outfits were how they displayed the huge wealth they acquired pillaging towns across Europe, quite a bit like the conspicuous consumption of modern gang members.
>>2795136
I find any comparison of those professional men of soldiering to contemporary rabble and gutter trash to be offensive
>>2795027
I think King Arthur, if he existed, would probably have dressed like a Late Roman

Is there much contemporary writing or art that depicts it? I'm not too familiar with Maya/Aztec but from what I remember their paintings and carvings of people were pretty simplified/caricatured.
>>2796522
Yep, this is a Maya lady wearing a transparent blue dress. This kind of weave that makes the clothing sheer is still made by a couple natives in Mexico.

I suppose therein lays the reason I dislike the aesthetic, the western empire began to look barbaric
I should say that the men themselves to me appear as modern italians, they are simply dressed like barbarians

This is a misunderstanding rooted in the 19th century. It was the Barbarians who copied Roman fashion, not the other way around.
