Was a cool dude. Could have done more. Policies would have been fine if Soviet Union was any good. Spent to much on military and was too aggressive to the USA

Fidel was a fascist cosplaying as a communist because he needed strong allies after the US slapped him with the embargo. There isn't a single instance of Fidel describing himself as a communist until after the revolution and the Cuban communist party even thought he's a CIA agent installed to remove volatile Batista initially.
