8) Restored Turkish national pride and created a national identity after years of humiliation as the unwashed scum of a failing empire that prized non-Turks.

And all of this after saving his country from being partitioned by the British, French, Italians, Greeks and Armenians in an independence campaign that combined military and diplomatic brilliance.
