Engels had theoretical differences with Marx earlier in their collaborative life, but around the time of the manifesto he swallowed his own quibblings and got fully on board the Karl Marx train, and never looked back. Basically he subsumed whatever differences he had for the sake of holding the very first version of the Party Line.

Furthermore, despite being compiled and meticulously edited by Engels following the death of Marx, Capital volumes two and three have authorship solely attributed to Karl Marx.

Whatever one thinks of the OC's, consider the following: Marx dies, and Engels drops V 2 with Marx's name on it shortly after. A decade later, V 3 is published. Less than a year later, his life's work and task to his friend complete, Engels drops dead.

Engels was basically one of the ultimate bros.

His technical innovations weren't even far outside the norm at the time. Unless you can name parts of the tech that Woz actually pioneered.

Otherwise he was pretty much right in line with his peers.

From engels we get most of the "headier" philosophy that ends up being attributed to Marx, since the two of them considered each others heads to be somewhat interchangeable (bros 4 life)
The problem is that Engels foray into philosophy is terrible it reflects badly on the entire marxist project, so of course there's a lot of backlash regarding it these days

That's a pretty ridiculous claim. He's known precisely for having developed things no one else was doing on a home product at the time. That's what made Apple take off. Apple I introduced terminal circuitry that allowed for use with nothing but a keyboard and a television set. And Apple II was the first personal computer that could be cheaply manufactured to support color, which he accomplished by doing something completely different from the industry standard at the time for color machines which would never be marketed as home products because they required thousands of dollars in parts. It also integrated input and output so you'd just have one easy to use computer instead of a machine you had to hook up to some other means of output like a teletype.
