What are the best arguments against social contract theory?
supercilious scoffing

There isn't a good argument for the theory to begin with.

Probably unintentionally a good answer to the question. Bateman from American Psycho is a perfect example of one of the weaknesses of the social contract.
Psychopaths understand the details of the social contract completely but feel no obligation to follow all the points that they are responsible for adhering to, and are generally smart enough to get away with it. Therefore, you gradually end up with a society ruled by people with no remorse, empathy, or limitations on behavior.

true, only divine sanction can provide a firm basis for society

Doesn't that happen in literally any government? Psycho- and sociopaths end up climbing to power even if it's an absolute monarchy because they can exploit the weaknesses of normal functioning people.

Easier for psycho and socio's if everyone believes in "oughts" and is highly spooked.

True.

Because you can't knowingly enter into a binding contract just by being born. What the fuck are you supposed to do when you realize that you never agreed to this shit?
>>2765480
You're supposed to realize that that's how the world works, and your ancap fantasies are laughable.
Well, imagine being born into a society where there are a certain set of norms, rules and laws. For example, common ownership is the norm in your community. However, as you grow up you realize that you would rather own private property yourself. Now you hear that there is a country where you can achieve this however, you are bounded by the ties you have to your home. After all, your source of income/food is reliant on your work to your home community aswell as social and relational ties. This might not be a big issue for some people but for others it is hard, therefore they could be "trapped" in the social contract of their community and find difficulty to escape.
And if you are really unlucky there is no alternative community where you can migrate to.

I don't understand. How does this contradict the social contract theory at all?
People break rules all the damn time, and nobody ever argues that the concept of rule itself is invalidated by that.
