Redpill me on the Bronze Age Collapse. How is it that we are living in a post apocalyptic future right now?

Who the fuck were the Sea People

Possibly Sardinians. Also possibly lots of people turning to pillage because something (climate being disturbed, distant volcanic eruption) completely ruined their normal way of life.
>>
>>2763861
We don't know.

Sicilians? Sardinians? Rogue Greeks? Balkan invaders who pushed through Greece? Anatolians who joined the invaders? All of the above?
>>
>>2763861
Ancient seafaring finnic tribes from fennoscandia, the same warriors that inspired vikings, eons later.

Interesting question

Note that the confederation of the "foreign peoples" who invaded Egypt was composed by a dozen different "Northeners" and by Lybian tribes who allied to destroy Egypt.

Of all those Northeners, only a few were given the epithet "of the sea", thus rendering them "sea peoples", we're talking about:

>"Ekwesh"

Often associated with the Ahhywaoi of the Hittitie texts, and thus with the Mycenean Greeks, but it's far from certain

>Shekelesh

Mentioned by the people of Ugarit and Hatti too, their origin is a mystery, many have drawn the conclusion that the Shekelesh were Sicels, it's not unlikely, Sicily became connected to the Eastern med by trade exactly around the same time the Shekelesh (and other sea peoples show up), making the identification of the two more likely, furthermore, Italic weapons, such as daggers and naue II type swords, were employed by Myceneans and found all over the Eastern Med as far as Ugarit and even inside of the cargo of the Uluburn shipwreck, this has led many to believe that Italic tribes were employed by the Myceneans and possibly other Eastern Med kingdoms/principalities as mercenaries.

>Sherden

By far the most well documented of the bunch, they first appear in the Amarna letters as mercenaries working for the king of Byblos and Ugarit, later they show up in Egyptian texts as invaders from the midst of the sea, they were employed as mercenaries and royal guards of the pharaoh Ramses II himself during the battle of Kadesh against the Hittites.
After failing to conquer Egypt, they were captured by the Egyptians and "settled" in fortresses both in Egypt and in Canaan along with the equally mysterious Philistines/Peleset and the Tjekker.
The Sherden are mentioned in more Egyptian documents as late as the 9th century bc, they were given lands in Egypt itself and became well integrated within the Egyptian population and adopted Egyptian names and costums.
They are generally identified with the Sardinians

Continues

because of more or less the same reasons Shekelesh are identified with the Sicels, the Sherden show up in the Eastern Med around the same time the Nuragic civilization in Sardinia reaches its apogee and starts to trade intensively with the Eastern Med, especially Cyprus, in fact the largest number of Cypriot oxhide ingot was found in Sardinia, and Sardinia handmade pottery reached Cyprus itself, the fact that some of the pottery was made locally enforces the hypothesis that Sardinians were living in Cyprus, and we know from Egyptians sources that Cyprus had just been devasted by the sea peoples during that time.

>Weshesh

The most mysterious of the bunch, some identify them with the Italic Oscians of Southern Italy, and considering we have strong evidence of Italic ties with the Eastern Med around that same time I'd say this is the the most reliable hypothesis I've read about them so far, which isn't saying much considering that other than them being mentioned a few times as invaders along with other sea peoples by the Egyptians we don't know much about them.
The other invading Northeners: Peleset (Philistines), Lukka (Lycians), Tjekker, Tursha and Denyen are never given the epithet "of the sea", so they are not technically sea peoples, though they were most certainly sea raiders too.

North Africans tribes such as the Libu (Lybians), Meshwesh (Maybe nomadic tribes from modern day tunisia) and Kehek joined the sea peoples and other northen raiders in their attacks against pharaoh Ramses III.

this is actually more well-supported than most other theories, especially considering the original source hieroglyphs found in Egypt which recount these events.

The Medinet Habu temple inscriptions tell us a few important details --

1. They say specifically that these were island-dwelling seafarers from the north -

"Now the northern countries, which were in their isles..." the inscription begins.

2. They are referred to as "Peleset (Pw-r'-s'-t), and Denyen" , along with other names but these two are the best examples to draw etymological parallels. Peleset is related to Pelasgians, which were an ancient Homeric tribe of Achaeans that derives from the Greek word for the stork, a migratory bird which goes north during summer and south during winter, which could be a reference to this group's lifestyle in early times.

Denyen is a bit more straightforward, relating to the Danaans of ancient Achaean tribes, which have been located on the Cimbrian peninsula.

3. The drawings of the Sea Peoples show horned helmets, a practice which centers around Scandinavia, especially Denmark. Helmets like these - https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d4/Bronze_Age_Helmets%2C_Nationalmuseet_Copenhagen.jpg/220px-Bronze_Age_Helmets%2C_Nationalmuseet_Copenhagen.jpg have been found and dated to the exact same time period (1200 BC) as their invasion into the Mediterranean.

There's something cozy about maps of ancient Egypt... mmm, those easily defendable borders...

also an interesting detail here is that Plato's account of Atlantis, as given by Egyptian priests to Solon the Wise, recounts a massive invasion of seafarers from the North which occurred after the flooding of their capital city of Atlantis.

The text says that this occurred 8000 or 9000 years before Plato's contemporary period, but this must be adjusted to the ancient Egyptian way of counting "years" which were really lunar cycles... and when you make those adjustments you see that this massive sea-invasion occurred right around 1200 BC, which coincides perfectly with the Sea Peoples' invasion and the Bronze Age collapse.

The one with the horned helmets are the Sherden, warriors with horned helmets are depicted in hundreds of bronze statuettes and dozens of sandstone statues found in Sardinia.

But the closest parallel with the Sherden armour and weapons depicted in the Medinet Habu temple is found in late bronze age Stelae-statues of Southern Corsica, they share the same exact type of horned helmet (same shape), same lobster armour, skirt and swords, that kind of armor is also depicted in two Cypriot cylinder seals.

these helmets were found on Zealand in Denmark... they match perfectly

Nordic bronze age weapons were examined recently (2013) and the copper came from Sardinia and Cyprus, but it might be a coincidence.

Why easy?
