處世若大夢, Life in the world is but a big dream;
胡爲勞其生. I will not spoil it by any labour or care.

At some point people accidentally invented alcohol, then someone liked it. This happened several times in different cultures, thus people invented beer, wine, pulque and other stuff. Then people had various cultural views of alcohol and alcoholism throughout history. Hard liquors were invented somewhere around 16 century. You're welcome.
