What are some of the best academic scholars and scholarship on the early Christian Church from the life of Jesus to the Council of Nicaea? Interested in learning more about this period.
Is Bart Ehrman considered a reputable source?

>Is Bart Ehrman considered a reputable source?
Yes he would be considered reputable. Many Christians have agreed with his material yet at the same time disagreed with certain aspects of his books. Though his work is vanilla of the secular NT crowd. Anyway here's my recommendation of early church material about Jesus' deity.

Yes. He's one of the most reputable sources. He's one of the top scholars in the field, and it's basically impossible to take a scholarly class on New Testament or the Early Church without having to use at least one of textbooks. In general, he's probably the best resource for learning about this period because hes a highly regarded scholar and his works are more accessible than most other people at his level. Some people get butthurt that he writes books for popular audiences, too; if that bothers you, get one of his textbooks, translation collections, or monographs.
