Why it seems, that Vedic teachings, hindu ideas, yoga and other indian stuff is more popular, than chinese ideas expressed in confucianism and daosim?
Is it just that Indian teachings go better hand in hand with hedonistic lifestyle, basicly is more fashionable?
>>
Because it's superior in every way
>>
confucianism is shit
>>

pls explain daoism
>>
Because the hindu tradition was transmitted to the English Language thanks to the Dominion, with allowed westerners to learn more about it. On the other hand, China was never colonized and wasn't open on the world until the death of Mao.

Isn't it like the roman mos maiorum? Shitloads of redudancies and overlaps but still kept as it is because muh tradition?
>>
>>2722620
>Vedic teachings, hindu ideas, yoga and other indian stuff is more popular
Because these guys mastered the phisiological aspects of their religion.
Confucius had no kundalini to prove to the West that he was doing something right.
>>
>>2723110
iirc Its pretty similar to greek stoicism/skepticism

Its a response to the obedient/bureaucratic confucianism. Dont care about what you cant control, bonus points if you go out to the countryside and become a hermit, etc.

The Dao can be learned but not taught.

Vedic teachings had a lot of famous western supporters and, if not supporters, at least admirers, such as Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Jung, Hesse, Campbell, Allan Watts... Hesse inspired the New Age movement. Campbell inspired pleb core normie entertainment such as Star Wars, which draws heavily from Buddhism. There is also the spread of Vedic doctrine by way of occultism and the new age movement. The influence of the likes of Crowley and Blavatsky in the culture is underrated because people are afraid to admit that they have read them.

Because hinduism and all that stuff sounds exotic, spooky and misterious and in great part is vague enough (often because of the sheer number of school of thought) that it appeals to a certain kind of people.
Confucianism instead is basically virtue ethics made in China, if you read the analects what you get is "filial piety, sexual morality, respect for tradition and rituals, be knowledgeable" which is precisely the kind of things that people who are most likely to be interested in hinduism and shit are trying to escape from. If they were interested in them, they'd just be aristotelian/christians/you get what I mean.

A lot of it has to do with accessible text histories.

For example, we didn't have a remotely authoritative Yi King in English until the Wilhelm Baynes translation in 1950.

By comparison we were making serious inroads to the Vedic materials about one hundred years previous.

I know far more about chinese practices than Hindu.

Though I know enough to know most of what is marketed as yoga in the west is a pale imitation of the orignial art

I'm sure that this is part of the explanation. Tons of 19th-century Europeans were fascinated with, for example, Sanskrit because it is an Indo-European language. European interest in India was furthered by the fact that Britain had had a close relationship with India since the 18th century. Europeans had never gotten into such a close relationship with the Chinese culture.

legalism did nothing wrong

I don't even understand why they stopped practicing it after only a couple of centuries. That "absolute order" shit sounded based. Reminded me of spartan "eunomia".

Because Vedic teachings allow you to be a pseudo-spiritual irresponsible little shit backpacking through Thailand, India, or Bali (Namaste), while Confucianism teaches you to have a job, raise a family, and contribute to society. Something white yuppies find "unfulfilling."

Qing dynasty probably wouldn't be raped if they didn't have Confucianists halting their modernization

DAOISM
> DUDE ELIXIRS LMAO

CONFUCIANISM
>When the sovereign behaves to his aged, as the aged should be behaved to, the people become final; when the sovereign behaves to his elders, as the elders should be behaved to, the people learn brotherly submission; when the sovereign treats compassionately the young and helpless, the people do the same. Thus the ruler has a principle with which, as with a measuring square, he may regulate his conduct.
