Discuss King Arthur, both the historical and legendary. Who was he?
Was he an amalgamation of ancient Celtic heroic demigods and other myths?
Was he a Roman Sarmatian cavalry commander of the 2nd century or his descendant?
Was he the British king Riothamus who fought alongside the last Gallo-Roman commanders against the Visigoths?
Was he the same person as Ambrosius Aurelianus who led the Romano-British resistance to the Saxon invaders?
Was he really the one who fought the Saxons at the Battle of Badon and pacified them for over a generation?
Did he really reign over the island as a High King or some kind of Emperor after that?
Or was he just a military commander or amalgamation of several characters from that period.
And related, discuss how the legendary aspects of the story coalesced such as Merlin and Excalibur and how they may related to the historical narrative.

The myth, the legend, herself.
Myth made up by the local destitute church to bring more patrons/money to the failing church. The myth then grew to become a local legend.
