>tinfoil hat-wearing geology theorists insist this was formed as part of some vast conspiracy by the Earth itself to change its own terrain, for some reason, which they never explain, through something called 'geographic intrusion', which they just made up without any evidence
Sometimes, the stump of a giant tree is simply the stump of a giant tree.
Não entendi. Repete, por favor.

Where did the rest of the tree go then, buddy?
Once smoked a small joint at the base of this mountain, definitely an interesting experience, I had this strange sensation even before smoking of a deep-bass-like overtone that this mountain off and that the it had something to do with the ridges on the sides and the way they interacted with the area. The name "Devil's Tower" also seemed to maybe imply certain spiritual aspects to this mountain and why the Native American's of the area always considered it sacred.
Could have been a UFO landing site? (or even a base?)
A mountain inhabited by local "nature spirits"? (ie. "devils" as the mis-translations of 'demons' goes)
Just a rock formation in an area that used to all be under-water at one point looooong ago?
God knows...

Hey dumbfuck, before you presume to act as a junior moderator, make sure you have the mental capacity to understand the purpose behind a thread; clearly, the purpose of this thread is to discuss Devil's Tower, and how it was formed. It is a natural historical monument.

The Aztec indians actually believed this really happened, that a brother and sister were out frolicking in the woods where the elders told them not to go, and so, for disobeying the elders, the brother was transformed into a giant bear and set upon his sister to devour her. She fled, and climbed on a tree stump which the ancient spirits then elevated high into the sky. The bear tried to get up but couldn't, no matter how he clawed, hence the vertical markings all over the tower. However, the girl was unable to get down but the spirits transformed her into the stars instead. The brother was cursed to remain a bear forever, and they say he still roams those sacred grounds to this day, preying on disobedient young indians who don't obey their elders.
