Well, your only citation is Richard Pipes, who says that he was told so by Jay Lovestone. Jay Lovestone is dead, as is Lenin, and the story is entirely anecdotal.
So unless you want to interrogate Richard Pipes to find out whether Jay Lovestone really told him that anecdotal story that may or may not be true, good luck comrade.
