Alright /his/, what is this thing? None of my professors know what it is and they expect me to write a report about it.
Helps to have it right side up.
It's a candle holder for ceremonies. You put the candle on the funny man's head.

Looks like part of a pot or something
It was found in Ecuador in the ceja region, which is about it.

Some amateur potmaker's attempt at a gift for his mom's birthday.
Put the phone upsidedown and it looks like a figure, might be a statue, not sure because of the angle of the picture doesn't show more, but it might be a pot if it has a hole on it, but I think it is a statue.

This is a Vietnamese basketweaving symposium. Why don't you talk to a potter? I bet a potter can tell you a lot about how it was made and what it was made from. Are you even sure it's old?

Not op but it's not old
All the actual artifacts are masterworks compared to this thing
>>266559 OP here. The professor is an archaeologist that specializes in New World ceramics. He doesn't know what it is.
>>2665659 I'm not as worried about what it was made from as use and history
Just google searched it and the closest thing I found was this.
