Self-actualization
literal pseudoscience. right down to the subjective definition of "self-actualization" and what "esteem" is based in.
post how he defines each level to understand how arbitrary and retarded it is.

As a general structure it is basically right though in the same way that BMI can be used as a general indication of how much of a obesity or skelly you are unless you're one of the less than 1% of people who fall under the outliers category for various reasons.

I don't know what 'self-actualization' would mean for a peasant in medieval Europe or China.

Well usually folk don't worry about ideas other than the immediate concerns when they got them.
Maslow just formalised a generalisation of human instinct that the man who is fighting for his life is a lot more prone to fighting than considering the nature of the fight.
Well the first 2 levels are correct, humans do need food, water and shelter in order to live. The rest however is just conjecture.

>formalised a generalisation
pseudoscience.
Multiple psychology professors I know have described Maslow and his era as being 'hippy bullshit'.
