As far as I know, gods would be those who bring forth their respective domain to us (if we idle), or whose domains we enter (if we change our perception). As in, god of the hunt or a forest would be the reason you meet a deer or meet nothing. Simply put, they are the rulers of domains and they have set the rules of the game you play when you enter that domain. Sea is one such domain.
Christian God is the God of existence and man. If man lives up to his fullest potential despite the flaws of his character, he becomes the image of God and by dying, a son of God.
