Yes. Newtonian physics is the very foundation of this dyscipline. Of course his version of the theory of gravity is getting slowly replaced by Einstein's theories (something about the space around objects being the one moving it or I don't know). But of course in astrophysics every discovery gets disproven sooner or later.

More than that, alchemy literally was chemistry before being rebranded. "Crazy magic shit" was a placeholder in practical sciences for things that were poorly understood but at least worked. Alchemy was based on experimenting and recording one's results, searching for useful compounds. The only bad part is the obtuse nature of many of the records kept, I guess because before peer review science was seen as more of a competitive than cooperative affair.

The idea that it was all about turning lead into gold and finding the elixir of life is based on a later largely western european misconception of the science, though these would certainly be ideals any alchemist would strive for- Endless free funding and potentially an eternity in which to conduct their work (as well as the end of all disease- The development of medicine was a large focus especially for spagyric alchemists, ie the european doctors who administered compounds that had been shown to combat the symptoms of a disease instead of tying frogs to people's necks and praying to Jesus that the devil would leave them).
