Why did serrated bayonets make everyone chimpout during WWI?
Just a way for propagandists to ramp up hatred for the Germans.

They apparently created a wound that would drop peoples guts on the floor. Not a lot of evidence for it, though.

Are you telling me huns didn't really pike babies?

gets stuck in ribs when you stab so then you get stabbed in the ribs with a serrated bayonet because you can't pull your rifle free in time and then the guy who stabs you also gets stabbed.
it's like the Triple Entente/Alliance.

They tear instead of just cut, so the wounds are more likely to be fatal.
Yes, as you can see from recent events, people cry when people kill people more efficiently than they're used to.
The sawback bayonet was made for pioneer and engineer use.
Have a look at the modern Glock 81 knife - exact same saw pattern.
So no, not for mauling - that's Entente propaganda.

>Most large blades stuck into the gut will do that famalam.
Serrated blades make it a certainty. Not that it mattered much anyway because charging enemy trenches with bayonnets was literally a meme that existed only in the heads of the generals sending their infantry to die 2 steps within the dead man zone.
Actually on that subject, has there EVER been a successful bayonnet-only charge from one trench to another?

Afghanistan
British use bayonets in The 21st century whilst the Americans never figured it out so just corner camped in their civil war killling far more than needed

Don't need serrated edges for that, even fucking spears sometimes do this.
