Why didn't Napoleon use war elephants in the Russian campaign?

Too slow. He was all about movement, speed, and bluff. Can't really do that on elephants...

Elephants have always been historically shit for battle. They spook easily and on a battlefield with artillery and muskets blazing everywhere an elephant is going to do more harm to your own forces than damage to your enemy. Not a good investment really.

he could loose more men in battels and still win the war because he could easily replace his men
war elepfants are quite hard to replace (and probably inefective in napolionic warfare)
