Could the Sino-Soviet split have been avoided? What would be the consequences of the two major communist powers continuing to cooperate?

It seems hard for China and Russia to have permanent alliances they have such conflicting interests. Only a legitimate existential threat to both of them could keep them United for any extended period of time.
That being said a Sino Soviet Split could be avoided if the Soviet Union were somehow able to take over the communist party of China.
Each had their own interests in mind. Nationhood split them apart.

No they had border disputes. Disputes over the legitimacy of Vietnamese and Cambodian social movements. Besides the each had their own unique issues of revisionism, so even if they maintained an alliance with each other it's doubtful they would be able to maintain proper Marxism.
