Someone red pill me on Napoleon III.

Was this guy as cool and great as his uncle, or was he a failure?

Completely based, but stabbed in the back by socialists and liberals.
Made Paris beautiful and not a cramped shithole
Expanded ironclad fleet
Successfully intervened in Crimea and did majority of the fighting contrary to what the British like to claim
Successfully intervened in Italy and prevented the Catholic Church from falling
Granted suffrage rights

He was dogged by sickness in the end years and forced by dumb republicans to enter war with Germany unprepared. Compared to his uncle? Well it's hard to find anyone who can match him.

France could have done better than this.

Story of their life.
>>

So was the second Empire better or worse on average than the July Monarchy?
>>
>>2620644
He wasn't nearly as incompetent as Marx made him out to be.
>>
>>2620665
Restoration in the way Charles X wanted it was never going to succeed. He wasn't the worst monarch, but it's impossible to be rid of the revolutionary ideas so easily and so quickly. Second Empire did a lot more

>Forced
That war was all of his own creation, and the way the war turned out was all of his too

“Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.

Pssht nothin' personal, kid."

This. And don't forget that he built a shitton of canals and railroads, which helped the French industry tremendously. And Eugenie was top tier empress.

>tfw the republic proclaimed in 1871 was not killed in it's infancy by MacMahon
>tfw the deah of Louis-Napoléon stopped any realistic hope of a Bonapartist restoration
>tfw the other royalist candidates were too autistic to compromise

;_;

>his uncle

Nope. III's mother cucked Napoleon's brother. Almost certainly no blood relation between the two.

Lol. I was in the house of Eugenie once. She lived in a shit castle in the middle of nowhere in Spain. Bretty noice place
>>
>>2620680
yeah, he saber rattled all around, but he knew the that the french army wasn't ready for war immediately, hence why he didn't intervene with austria earlier. it was mostly the parliament who clamored for war after the EMS dispatch. this was also when Napoleon was sick and weak; when his rule turned to shit

marx was hegel's farce desu
>>
>>2620644
that faggy cloth wrapped around his waist sure makes his hips look dainty
>>
I wonder what would have happened if he did what he wanted about Algeria desu
>>
>>2620730
Eugine lived in Barritz in France. She usually travelled to Madrid,Sevilla and her family castle in Viscay.Which castle are you talking about? Belmonte? Because she barely lived there
>>
>>2621200
Explain
>>
>>2621313
He didn't cared of the colonies but then wanted to make some arab kingdom in union with France (like austria - hungary, the arab kingdom being Algeria (and others arabs territories under France maybe)

But the military and the colonists didn't wanted that ofc so he did not.
>>
>>2621344
Was he planning on converting Algeria to catholicism? Because I doubt that anyone not even Eugene would want a muslim France
>>
>>2621356
I don't know the subject in detail, but you don't need to have a common religion desu, it's better for sure.
>>

>I don't know the subject in detail, but you don't need to have a common religion desu, it's better for sure.
Eugene was pretty catholic and she had a huge influence on Napy the III.One of the main reasons to intervene in Mexico was to create a strong catholic country to rival the US in America for example.

If the military reforms Napoleon III had wanted passed the legislature, could france have beaten Prussia?
