What can you tell me about this German helmet? I was given it about 20 years ago and just dug it out my parent's attic. They paid about £10 for it.
Inside it has the code 'NS62' which I know to be the manufacturer and the size. It's bloody tiny so I can't wear it. There's also a code 'D219' at the back.
Mostly I'm wondering if it is really a wartime helmet, and what it might have been used for in life. There isn't any sign of markings and it's completely black. And how much of the liner and strap is likely original?
Here's the interior.

Looks like a traditional 1889 germanic paratrooper helmet. Something like that, with so few damage done to it, is worth at least a few thousand dollars.
Nice find, anon.

That's their flying saucer corps right? Great stuff.
Here's another pic, because it rotated the first one.

Looks like a legit war-time helmet. With no insignia on it, its hard to tell who would've worn it. "NS62" is the manufacturer's mark; it was made by Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke and is Size 62.
Liner and strap look too good to be original, but I guess its possible.
Worth $100-200.

Is this an M35?

I think so. From what I've read, the air vent hole is made with a separate grommet pushed in, while later models had the hole simply stamped in. But I'm hardly an expert
Is it stamped?
could you post a pic with something to scale so we can see how small it is?
can anyone here explain why they'd make one so small? or does OP just have a big head

I do have a big head. But it's also a small helmet anyway. I look ridiculous in it.
Photo probably doesn't give a great impression of size, my head directly touches the helmet at the front and the back.

if you attach a handle to the helmet it becomes a cow dung scooper
I can tell you it looked like a very dark nipple in that first photo
Size comparison, here it is alongside a much later M1 helmet, I'm told Vietnam era, but really don't know. This is a hell of a lot more comfy, it's great.

I heard of people actually doing that with captured German helmets
lmao
