Most of what passes for philosophy is just contorting the language and twisting definitions, linguistic charlatanry. Stirring up the muddy waters of expression to hide how shallow they are. It makes sense that philosophy composed in a language you are not a native speaker of will seem doubly alien.

For a current example see the latest internet sensation Jordan Peterson repeatedly citing expressions which are relatively recent idioms specific to the modern American vernacular (e.g. "being in a bad place") as evidence of the fundamental structure of the human psyche going back millions of years.
