Was Stalin a socialist?
Unironically a national socialist.
This thread will obviously be a debate over the meaning of the term socialist rather than the content of Stalin's political-philosophy.

He was state capitalist. Read Chomsky and Wolff.

He was definitely a socialist. He had a lot of national influence but to be fair he had to lean on it in order to gain more support for the war effort. His work before he became the leader of the USSR was heavily involved in managing the national relationships of Russia's satellites. However, it must be pointed out that at no point did he ever declare Russians or Georgians to be better than anyone and he stayed true to the export of the revolution. Sending aid and "missionaries" to asia, africa and s. america in the name of the USSR not explicitly Russia. So yes while undeniably he himself had nationalist tendencies that shown through in his personal life, he did not rule like an national socialist would. Which is why there is a stark difference in the rhetoric used and between the way that Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco ruled compared to Stalinist Russia.

>muh state capitalism
so was lenin by that logic. The whole point of state capitalism was to accelerate industrialism in russia from a feudalistic model to the capitalist one, so that they may finally switch to socialism. They were still communist ideologues.
Nice misdirection faggot.

He started as one, but as alluded to in Animal Farm by George Orwell, he had become as bad as the monarchy. Over all, he was a national capitalist.
>>2614227
Yeah, but he created state capitalism

how are people this dumb?! It was Lenin.

>how are people this dumb
no, it's commieboo revisionism
I'm sure he believed he was. But at no time during his reign did the workers control the means of production. So, in practice, he wasn't.

A dictator.
He was better than a marxist, but worse than a national socialist

Socialism in One Country or Nationalist Socialist/ National Bolshevist. NatSoc was stolen by capitalists and imperialists and is misleading.

He's wrong about Stalin being capitalist but Lenin's NAP was State Capitalist.
