Without taking the events of Lenin and leftist events after Marx's death, isn't what Marx described basically America today?
Marx goes on to describe a corporatocracy where all the capital of a nation gradually becomes concentrated at the top, where small farmers become replaced by huge corporate farms and craftsmen are replaced by factory-supplied chain-stores. In his scenario, there is a shrinking middle class, an exploited lower class forced to sell their productive potential for a living and the Bourgeoisie: the upper class who own all the capital and means of production and use this to sway a "representative" government to change legislation to better their bottom line.

It doesn't happen in America. While they stopped getting richer 40 years ago, they don't get poorer.
They still retain the ability to consume, and thus are not pushed into a revolution. That contradiction was solved.
