It remains to be seen if industrialization is really just a glorified death spiral or a transitory state towards some new more stable existence like agriculture was. Though agriculture led to some of the worst lifestyles in human existence... I think working in a shit factory doesn't compare to how horrid it was to be a slave with your dick chopped off working to death in a silver mine.

There's no such thing as a bad invention, as almost all have positive uses in addition to bad. The Neutron Bomb, or enhanced radiation bomb. It was a small-yield nuclear bomb designed to kill through a massive dose of radiation rather than the kinetic energy of the blast or the thermal energy released at the time of detonation. Your insides would effectively disintegrate and you'd die a very painful death over a period of a couple days. Even the man who designed it, Sam Cohen, described it as an evil weapon.

Why does that matter? Nuclear weapons were not a deterrent in these cases, nor in any of the other instances of full-scale war throughout the 20th and now 21st century. All nuclear weapons have done is push the theaters of war into those regions that have been denied access to them.

>I wish I didn't have to flee into technological escapes to alleviate the meaninglessness and alienation of post-industrial society but here we are

I absolutely fucking detest this attitude with a passion. You think modern life is so dull? What exactly about pre-industrial life was so much better? The only thing that would've distracted you from how mind-numbingly tedious subsistence farming is would be the agonising pain from the untreatable illnesses you have.

You're perfectly free to live your life without the evil results of industrialisation if you so choose (and with the added bonus of modern medicine that industrialisation gave to us taking away the nastiest bits). All you have to do is buy a farm. Just remember to give up your computer, your TV, and pretty much all your other consumer goods. Oh, and no mechanised farming equipment so you and your family have to do all the work yourself. You'd probably last about two weeks.

>What happens when they DO gain access to them?

Then they have a trump card to protect themselves from surrounding armies.

The whole Russia-Crimea thing happened because we promised protection in exchange for Ukraine dismantling their nuclear weapons.

Oops.

>And when diplomacy fails?

The ability to inflict lethality is a part of diplomacy. Without it, other nationstate predators plan their future war plans with the weakness of non-nuclear powers in mind.

> You'd probably last about two weeks.

Human happiness is relative. And our society has promoted food which makes people feel like shit and entertainment which stimulates dopamine release to the point of addiction and fucking blue light which inhibits a bunch of metabolic and cellular "garbage" cleanup and autophagy.

Not to mention that more cognitive frames are occupied by absolute bullshit by the advertising/entertainment complex.

I'm not saying past life is perfect, I'm saying that there are novel "difficulties' which humans are far less prepared to deal with than the normal difficulties of past ancestors.

>Civilisation eats more "primitive" cultures. Sure, you can chose your lifestyle - as long as you buy it from our store.
>>
>>2537179
>tribal hunter-gatherer life-style would be preferable to agricultural living

While it is indeed true that a hunter-gatherer lifestyle is the healthiest for the body, it would be extremely difficult for someone like us who has grown up in the modern world to adjust to it. I know I wouldn't want to revert to it.

And you're also correct in that it's better to agricultural living. It would be better to live in 10000 BC than 1500 AD. But the advances of the past 100 years or so in terms of medicine and entertainment have turned that around. There's basically an enormous gap between the invention of agriculture and the early 20th century where life sucked hard for the majority of people. Just be glad we're one of the first few generations out of it.

>modern factory farming is horrific and a not the same as the ancient practice. farms that haven't industrialized are dying

Yet we're able to feed an unprecedented amount of people? Sure, it may be sad and depressing to see morbidly obese people, but if you have even the slightest amount of self control it's better to live in a society where you're statistically more likely to eat yourself to death than starve

Ok, but what profit would the russian officials have? It would most likely end in tears.

Both empires needed an enemy, because that's what empires need. War is best run by proxy. Hitler should know better.
>>
>>2537231
most people are definitely not equipped for a return of hunter-gatherer living, but many would also would have to die to make that possible.
I would like to see it happen but I don't hold the delusion that humanity will return to that state barring some cataclysmic event.

>Yet we're able to feed an unprecedented amount of people?
if not for industrialization we wouldn't be able to feed the earth's current population, true. but I don't think growing the population more than we have is desirable, they say the earth with our current technology could support 100 billion people, sounds like hell to me.
>Sure, it may be sad and depressing to see morbidly obese people, but if you have even the slightest amount of self control it's better to live in a society where you're statistically more likely to eat yourself to death than starve
I think the fight to not starve against the natural world is a dignified pursuit, rather than the "surrogate activities" people create for themselves when survival is such a guarantee that goals need to be fabricated to create the illusion of fulfillment.

>goals need to be fabricated to create the illusion of fulfillment
I would argue that it's just the trap of our current economic and social system. We've fed ourselves with propaganda. The goal is to have a "better economy". What does that even mean? We lack intelligence as a species. We go for quantity, not quality. This makes us act like a cancer cells killing the host. There is noone behind the weel now except the pursuit for short-sighted "profit".
>It remains to be seen if industrialization is really just a glorified death spiral
So we end up with this. We might have gotten technological tools too soon. Our societies weren't ready yet. Instead of creating a shield from asteroids, we might bring doom to ourselves with our own hands. If that scenario plays out, it will be the least satisfying "see, I was right".

>>
>>2540113
Hello, mr Faggot.
Early christians were persecuted because they became a threat to the order of the Roman Empire. From todays perspective we could judge that Romans were right about that.
Anyway see how I wrote "Roman Empire"? It's because the republic ended before the birth of Christ.
As to the religion of Rome - it was never that influential (or that cancerous) as was christianity. That's why as the less viral meme it didn't survive.

for contrast:
>Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects of the atomic bombings killed 90,000–146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000–80,000 in Nagasaki; roughly half of the deaths in each city occurred on the first day.

Multiculturalism isn't something anybody invented. It's just the label/political explanation we've grafted onto what we're observing, i.e. a system dying of old age. If nobody had every thought up the concept, it wouldn't do anything to change the underlying reality.

The bigger problem is that none of the major industrial powers of the world are going to agree to coordinate and scale back their economies to any meaningful degree in a humanitarian pursuit

all attempts thus far have been token. Anything China has done is probably just a lie, as usual.
>>
>>2557572
Right. Exactly.

The paradigm shift won't happen for us. It's against human nature.

And a massive population reduction won't occur easily.

So, prepare for what we can predict. Kiss the coasts goodbye and be ready for increasingly brutal weather patterns.

Oh haha and the great migration as coastal populations are increasingly displaced.

>implying USSR could've invaded America successfully
My sides. Their GDP was always way below America's, the only reason they were neck-and-neck militarily is because the people of the USSR were dirt poor in comparison, and all that money and production went into the military.
America wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell of invading then either, but still. The idea of either power conquering the other is laughable.

Correct.

>rather than considering that 'the organism' consists of almost identical bacteria as well

This argument presupposes you're thinking at the level of the cell, rather than of the organism. You might as well argue that diamond = graphite, because they're both made of the same stuff right? In reality, the structure, rather than the fundamental building blocks, is what matters.

Not a valid response.

Clothes are a basic necessity, and must be made in any system. A PC designed for a specific market of individuals who use it recreationally could only realistically have come about under market capitalism.

His PC, phone laptop, etc is not necessary for a decent standard of living. If he wasn't just being a posing faggot then he WOULD not have one, and would go and live in a rural area to live a good moral life.
