What are some accurate depictions of war and history in movies, television shows, etc.?
Doesnt exist. It sucks that I used to practise HEMA. Watching arrows and blades pierce plate make me cringe everytime. Modern history though, I liked War Horse.

This. We know what we're told we know because authority's authority is determined the authoritative sources.
There aren't any, really
In the context of a duel the only historical media I've seen get it more are less right are The Duellists and Rob Roy, and even then it's not perfect, some things are very obviously done for the sake of choreography but less so than in other films
Boardwalk Empire is great.

Ok /his/, we really should get a list going of films and TV that actually do accurately depict combat, military and personal, as well as military life, in proper detail.
What I can think of off the top of my head:
>Waterloo
>Zulu
>Sharpe
>The Duelists
>Master and Commander
>Band of Brothers & The Pacific
>Saving Private Ryan
>Tora Tora Tora
>Flags of Our Fathers & Letters From Iwo Jima
>Das Boot
>Generation Kill (Not 25+ years, but it's fucking good and about as accurate as its possible to get)
>Black Hawk Down (Also not 25+ years but fuck it)
>Platoon
>A Bridge Too Far
That's all I can think of at the moment, I know there must be more.
