Michelangelo sucked. Guy had no clue how to paint, he just drew sculpture in 2D and then applied paint-by-numbers to give them color.

he did, and intentionally gave few fucks while painting because he did it rarely, was known for his sculpting, and was only interested in painting as a means toward design. He's known to have repeatedly said he was "no painter", and was actually pretty vociferous saying he thought the flemish had their heads up their asses focusing on mimesis and rejecting conceptual design.
