Pretty sure that's Diogenes

I personally think Socrates was probably more of a Cynic than Plato would like to admit, and the Socrates Plato presents is mostly trumped up to further Plato.

Socrates' more intimate follower was Antisthenes after all, where Plato was younger during his time with the Philosopher.

Plato's dialogues are a meme, they're really only something he did as a hobby. Their relationship to the teaching that went on at the Academy is exactly how Plato viewed Mimetic creations, rigid shades and inappropriate for actual teaching. They may have been used as the basis to encourage debates/dialogue. We will never understand the extent of the intensely active, social, and guided instruction that went on in the academy, and thus the actual teaching and mode of thought is really lost to time.

Plato was not dogmatic, the Middle and Neo-Platonists were

where did you get this horseshit from, boy?

Plato lived in a transition period between the oral-literate and the writing-literate demographic shift in Greece.

There were still "bards"/"poets" who could recite the entirety of the Illiad and the Odyessy from memory.

"Much work has been written on the use of dialogue form in Plato, arguing (amongst other things) that one of its functions is to avoid dogmatic theorizing and to engage the reader to participate actively in the philosophical conversation depicted."

That was just a quick search, but every serious researcher of classical philosophy I have read makes the claim to some extent. Especially Paul Friedlaender, how and why is Plato dogmatic, if I'm just speaking "horseshit"?
