The 100 days and Waterloo was an abysmal failure. His child has been taken from him and his desperate act was to have his son returned. The incredibly cruelty of separating a father and son is what motivated the almost superhuman effort required in his brief return.

On 15 December 1940, Adolf Hitler ordered the remains of Napoleon II to be transferred from Vienna to the dome of Les Invalides in Paris, where finally after their long separation father and son could rest at piece together.
