Napoleon put an end to the Reign of Terror in France and all that other stupid stuff from the French Revolution which is viewed by many communists and liberals as glorious. I have no idea how you can blame Napoleon for spreading liberalism since he did nothing but place family as monarchs of different countries, introduce the metric system to Europe and cause a reintroduction of ancient Roman law. He's also held in high regards by French nationalists and even people like Hitler admired him.

Napoleon took many of the progressive values championed by the French revolution and introduced them to the rest of Europe as well. Things like secularism, religious pluralism, property rights, and the glorification of equality. Those values resulted in the rise of materialistic bourgeois rule in Europe.

Many liberal values of the 19th century may not be considered liberal today, but they opened the doors for many of the progressive ideologies we see today.

Also, Hitler admired almost every successful military leader in history to serve as examples. It had nothing to do with the principles that Napoleon held. Regardless, Hitler was the exact opposite of Napoleon in terms of the affects that would have happened in Europe if he had won the war.
