Let me be honest with you family, Turkey joining the EU is an alright idea. We have a lot shittier countries in the EU. At least Turkey could actually contribute to the economics positively.
BUT,
Have you guys ever been there ?
I was lucky enough to visit Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya and numerous other big cities. And the things I saw wasn't very european.
A good amount of people had their little table on the street with their """goods""" on it, things like replica watches and other fake things, traditional sweets and souvenirs. Most back-alleys there could make a German cry.
