Britain had way too many men. The war would drag on with both sides losing many men but with Britain's colonies they would eventually win. If the U.S joined the war it certainly the Allies would win. Also France, Greece and some of the other occupied territories would be to much of a headache to deal with. The allies would also just invade Italy and win because by the end of the war Italian support was falling apart.
