There are only a few main kinds of communism.

In essence Communism and Socialism are the two latest stages that Marx and Engels believed human society would progress through.

After capitalism reaches all corners of the world, the workers get sick of it, and reform society into Socialism which is a transitional period before Communism arises.

Socialism is what most people are more familiar with, its workers ownership of factories, a Vanguard party defending the revolution while its given time to mature, state ownership of most industries ect ect

Communism is more an ideal state that Marx himself never went too deep into. It's essentially a stateless utopia where everyone is equal but society still works.

Plenty of people will give you what they think communism/socialism are/should be but it's all been so abstracted the past 150~ years it doesn't matter. All you need to know is that "Communism" is the ideal todays far left has been most influenced by, Socialism is the vehicle that is meant to make it possible.
