>history is chronological listing of facts
>No! It's interpretation of facts from various individuals' viewpoints
>they don't realize history is actually cultural narrative, and each culture's historical analysis places varying and selective emphasis not just on the objective events being retold, but also differing emphasis on the very ideas of chronology, theme, setting, and progression of events in order to tell larger stories about cultural values and that history is fundamentally conversation and cannot be understood as science nor as interpretation because scientific history and interpretive history are both themselves the frames of a story being told to show what is valued in our modern societies and the events we are using in attempting to explain the past are never going to give us greater understanding of what has come before but rather only tell us what is now and therefore our understanding of the past is as limited as our understanding of the future
