Explain more
Historians say the war was 'about slavery' as a tidy way to contextualize the causes of the civil war but then elaborate that point with hundreds of specific incidents & trends that ultimately led to the violent schism including the political & cultural divide between north and south.
/his/torians say it the war was 'about slavery' because they're parroting their teachers or wikipedia or other posters on 4chan and make passive aggressive threads about the people who don't agree with them

How is dropping a bomb that obliterates everything in a wide area and condemns many more to agonizing death by radiation poisoning on a densely populated civilian area NOT a war crime?
>>2371586

While we have documented cases of members of the officer corps on both sides of the Civil War joined because of moral causes like freeing the slaves for Jesus or their inalienable rights, your average soldier in the Civil War fought because someone told him that Cletus/Yankee Doodle is coming to rape your wife, kill your children and burn your house down. Look at the New York Draft riots. When there was no fear of the South, there was no desire to fight it.
>>2371586
It's not a war crime if you win.
>>2371586
>drop lots of little bombs
>condemn thousands of people to agonising deaths from burns, injuries, infections or starvation
>not a war crime
